Magic Carpet

Inside Outside, Step, Step, Flip #

The game is a cooperative and physically engaging activity that encourages teamwork and communication. It's a great choice for team-building exercises or as a fun group challenge.

How to Play #

Gameplay

In the "Magic Carpet" game, participants stand on a large sheet or tarp, and their collective goal is to work together to manipulate the tarp while remaining on top of it. The tarp represents a magical flying carpet, and participants use their coordination and communication skills to collect all the treasure faster than their opponents.

Variations

To increase the challenge, use a smaller tarp or sheet.

Create obstacles or challenges (e.g., cones or markers) that participants must navigate around while flipping the tarp.

Add challenges or obstacles on the tarp, such as obstacles that must be avoided or bonus points for reaching certain spots.

Magic Carpet Gameplay

Rules #

Explain the objective: Participants are on a competitive magic carpet adventure to collect treasure. Their task is to flip and manipulate the tarp to reach the designated "treasure spots" and retrieve tokens or objects placed there.

Teams: Divide participants into teams (2 or more, depending on the group size).

Appoint Captains: Each team must appoint a leader or captain who will be responsible for coordinating their team's movements and strategy.

Objective: Teams compete to collect as many tokens or objects from the treasure spots as possible within a predetermined time limit.

Teamwork: Emphasize that while competition is important, participants must still work together as a team to flip and manipulate the tarp effectively.

Scoring System: Use a scoring system to keep track of each team's performance:

Points: Assign different point values to the tokens or objects on the treasure spots (e.g., higher values for more challenging spots). Teams earn points for each token or object successfully retrieved. The game continues for a set duration (e.g., 10-15 minutes). Teams must strategize, communicate, and coordinate their movements to maximize their score.

End Game: At the end of the game, calculate each team's total score by adding up the points earned from the collected tokens or objects.

Winning Team: Declare the winning team as the one with the highest score.

Materials #

Materials Required:

Large Sheet or Tarp: Use a sizable sheet or tarp.

Markers or Cones: You'll need markers or cones to designate certain points on the tarp.

Setup Instructions:

  1. Lay the large sheet or tarp flat on the ground, making sure it's clean and free of any sharp objects or debris.

  2. Gather all participants around the perimeter of the tarp, with everyone standing on the ground and holding onto the edges of the tarp.
